Profesora de Literatura norteamericana en el departamento de Filología Inglesa de la Universidad de Jaén. Autora de El otro oficio de los profesores: la novela académica anglonorteamericana (1997) ha coeditado Stories Through Stories, Theories Through Stories: Native American Storytelling and Critique (2009); Feeling in Others: Essays on Empathy and Suffering in Modern Culture (2008) y Masculinities, Femininities and the Power of Hybrid in U.S. Narratives: Essays on Gender Borders (2007). Más recientemente ha publicado A Critical Study of Female Culinary Detective Stories: Murder by Cookbook (2009).
